Please note that adherence to these guidelines will help us get your product through the streaming process as quickly as possible. Failure to submit all required materials as specified, will result in delays in streaming and the movies will be held until all the required materials are received. Any content over 3 hrs in length or less than 30 minutes is strongly discouraged.
All tape source media (NTSC or PAL) will be reviewed on JVC and Sony VCR equipment.
All NTSC DVDs will be reviewed on JVC or Sony equipment and must be mastered to Region 1 discs. All PAL DVDs will be reviewed on a Sharp PAL equipment and must be mastered to either Region 0 or 3 discs.
1. Submitting Source Video Acceptable:
DVD*, S-VHS, VHS, or Mini-DV**, Mpeg*** (DVD is the preferred format for both NTSC and/or PAL submissions)
* DVDs may be in either NTSC (29.97 FPS) or PAL (25 FPS) format and should be 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL) resolution, although 640 x 480 for either format will be accepted. It is recommended that the native resolution of the source video be preserved. Don’t squash or crop to save space!
** Mini-DV’s must be in NTSC Format for submission.
** MPeg submission should meet the following minimums for submittal:
2500 kbps (2.5 mbps) variable bit rate video
128 kbps at 44.1 kHz audio
One file per disc! In other words, if the movie is several chapters, they must be combined into a single Mpeg file. We do not combine multiple Mpeg files into one file. If this cannot be avoided, a better solution would be to author a playable DVD+R or DVD-R disc, rather than submitting a DVD-Ram disc with Mpeg files.
DVDs with promotional material at the beginning or end of the movie is unacceptable. Mpegs that are submitted on DVD-Ram discs will not be edited for content. Therefore, the single file on the disk must be of the movie only without any type of commercial or promotional material included.
Our maximum requirements are flexible and may be changed on a client-by-client basis. However, please try not to exceed these recommendations:
5500 kbps (5.5 mbps) variable bit rate video
256 kbps at 48 kHz audio
29.97 (NTSC) or 25 (PAL) frames per second
720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL) resolution
All files will be transcoded into formats that can be streamed. Better quality Mpegs will yield better quality streaming files. However, there is such a thing as overkill when submitting Mpegs, especially when it comes to the audio portion of a file. The highest quality acceptable audio is 16kbps, 16 kHz, stereo CBR and the highest quality audio available for Windows Media download is 64 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo CBR. The focus is on higher quality video. It is recommended that the quality of the audio portion of the stream be sacrificed for a higher quality video bit rate. Higher audio bit rates other than our recommendations will only result in a larger files for transcoding. As better codecs become available, it is possible in the future; we will stream higher audio bitrates.
Formats that are Not Acceptable:
VHS-C, Beta-cam, 8-Video, 35mm, or 16mm, master copies
Movies that are taped over old tapes (always use a new tape).
No responsibility is held if a “Master Copy” is sent and it is lost or damaged.
Content over 3 hrs in length or less than 30 minutes is strongly discouraged.
Media with more than 1 movie per tape or DVD.
